Villanueva, Esq Program Description This course will provide Interviewing Skills and Techniques, along with "tips or hints" on how to complete a successful interview with an Elderly victim or Dependent Adult. Regardless of your experience, the course will offer ideas and thoughts the student will be able to use when confronted with the task of obtaining information from a victim who is either elderly or has special needs. Outline: See PowerPoint named VillanuevaOutline.ppt Training Objectives The Student will be provided with "skills and techniques" to be used while conducting interview's with either competent or incompetent elderly victims and dependent adults. In addition, the Student will be introduced to the significance of case preparation, prior to the interview being conducted and what information should be obtained and where it can be found. The Student will be introduced to issues and concerns from both the victim and the Investigator's perspective and how to address those same issues. In this portion of instruction, the Student will learn about the importance of recognizing relationships within the victim's life and respecting those relationships. The Student will learn ways to insure the victim that they are in fact important, respected and will be treated as "one deserving of special consideration and protection". The Student will also be provided with a list of "tools" that can and should be used when conducting interviews with Elders or Dependent Adults.
